Floor Waxing accomplishes two things:
This second function is extremely important but oftentimes overlooked. Some may believe that repeated cleaning efforts will keep the floor’s appearance or restore it to how it “should look.” However, without removing the existing wax coating with the trapped dirt and stains, your floors will suffer from premature wear. This is most commonly found in vinyl composite tiles (VCT).
Stripping away the old wax removes the dirt and stains captured and encapsulated in the wax, leaving the flooring material clean so that multiple new coats of wax can be applied, leaving you with a new glossy floor you can be proud of. In most cases, this stripping and re-waxing should be done every 6-18 months, depending on traffic conditions.
Warning: NEVER wax floors with grout! If a tile floor contains grout lines, keep wax away. Floors which have grout lines should only be cleaned and sealed with an approved stone sealer in order for the grout or stone to remain stain free. I have seen too many tile/grout floors waxed and that is a big, costly mistake!
